Save Your Vision Month Coloring Posters
Each year, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and the Vision Conservation Institute design coloring sheets in honor of Save Your Vision Month. There is no charge for members to use these coloring sheets. Simply click here to view and download this year's coloring sheet. Save Your Vision MonthThrough the years, members have come up with many creative uses for the coloring sheets in promoting the importance of good eye health and vision care to youngsters. Use the coloring sheets to sponsor a coloring contest in your office or neighborhood, hand out a coloring sheet to students during a visit to a day care or elementary school, or distribute them in your office as kids or their parents get their eyes examined. Be sure to display the posters in your waiting room after they have been colored. To aid your SYVM celebration, VCI has designed a certificate of participation for use with the coloring posters. You can distribute it during your coloring contest so that all kids who participate are winners. SYVM is also a perfect time to schedule visits to elementary school classrooms to remind children about the important role vision plays in their lives. Download a sample letter that you can personalize, copy on your letterhead, and distribute to the kids when you visit their classrooms. The letter informs parents that you visited their child's classroom to educate them about their eyes, and the coloring posters are fun take-home reminders for the kids.

Forms
Third Party Payer Issue Reporting Form
The POA office often gets calls asking for assistance from doctors when they are unable to get paid by a third party carrier. Sometimes, the information provided is incomplete and POA is less able to help than we would like. Therefore, we have developed this Third Party Payer Issue Reporting Form for those instances when members are unable to resolve payment issues on their own and are requesting help from POA. |
Misuse of DEA Number Complaint Form
AOA has developed a form for doctors to use to report evidence of insurance companies and pharmacies inappropriately requiring DEA numbers to fill prescriptions for non-controlled substances. Please use this Misuse of DEA Number Complaint Form to report evidence of DEA number misuse to POA, and we will compile the information and provide it to AOA. |
Low Vision Provider Network
The POA has been in recent communications with the leadership of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology to identify areas of agreement in which the two organizations can work together. Low vision is one of these areas, as low vision rehabilitation is the standard of care recommended by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, which says that ophthalmologists should refer for vision rehabilitation for patients with vision loss. The Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology has asked the POA to identify optometrists in the state who have a serious emphasis in low vision. If you want to be included in this exciting opportunity to collaborate with ophthalmology, please complete the form to the right and email to Kelsey@poaeyes.org. |
Scleral Contact Lens Provider Network
The Pennsylvania Optometric Association has been in recent communications with the leadership of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology to identify areas of agreement in which the two organizations can work together. Easier access to refer patients to optometrists skilled in fitting scleral contact lenses is one of these areas. Therefore, the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology has asked us to identify optometrists in the state who have a serious emphasis in fitting scleral contact lenses. If you want to be included in this exciting opportunity to collaborate with ophthalmology, please complete the following form and email it to Kelsey@poaeyes.org or fax to 717-233-6833. |
POA Expense Voucher

Near Point Cards for School Nurses
Since the late '90s, the POA has been working to educate the public on the importance of children’s vision, and attempting to bring about legislation to support efforts to provide eye examinations for children at various benchmarks of their lives. As we all know, vision screenings do a poor job of identifying near vision problems such as latent hyperopia and accommodative disorders. With near vision in mind, the POA created a near point card for nurses to help them identify near point issues in their screening population.
